Emergency Water Extraction

Extraction is the single highest-value hour of any water loss: every gallon pulled mechanically is a gallon that never has to be evaporated out of your building. Crews arrive with extractors already loaded and pumping starts before the paperwork does. The goal is not to finish the job on day one, it is to stop the loss from getting bigger.

Common causes we see

  • A supply line or heater releasing hundreds of gallons before anyone was home
  • Fire sprinkler or suppression discharge flooding a floor
  • Storm water pushing under doors and through weep holes
  • A sump or ejector pump failing during heavy rain

Signs you need Emergency Water Extraction now

  • Visible standing water anywhere on the floor
  • Water audibly dripping through into the level below
  • Carpet that squelches and releases water underfoot
  • Water pooling against baseboards or under cabinet toe-kicks

Situations we handle every week

  • There is an inch of water across the ground floor and it is still rising
  • Water is coming through a light fixture and the breaker is still on
  • A tenant called at 2am and the building has no shut-off diagram

What happens if it is left alone

  • Every additional hour of standing water is roughly another foot of wicking up drywall and framing
  • Water sitting more than 48 hours reclassifies from clean to Category 2, which changes what can be saved
  • Standing water in contact with energised circuits is an immediate shock and fire hazard
  • Engineered floors and cabinet bases swell irreversibly once bulk water sits against them

How we handle emergency water extraction

  1. 1Make the area electrically safeBefore any crew steps in water, affected circuits are isolated at the panel and standing water is tested for contact with energised equipment.
  2. 2Pump the bulk volumeSubmersible pumps handle anything over two inches; below that, truck-mounted vacuum extraction is faster and leaves less behind.
  3. 3Weighted extraction on soft goodsCarpet and pad are extracted under operator weight in overlapping passes, which removes several times more water than a free-floating wand.
  4. 4Chase the hidden waterWater under cabinets, behind tack strip and inside wall cavities is drilled, extracted or opened for access — it does not drain on its own.
  5. 5Hand off to dryingOnce free water is gone, the same crew sets air movers and dehumidifiers so drying begins the same visit rather than the next day.

What's included

  • Truck-mounted extraction units and submersible pumps
  • Weighted extraction tools for carpet and pad
  • Electrical safety isolation before entry
  • Sub-cabinet and wall-cavity extraction access
  • Immediate placement of drying equipment
  • Photo and volume documentation for the claim

How this differs from similar services

Emergency Water Extraction vs Flood Cleanup

Flood cleanup deals with water that arrived from outside and is usually contaminated. Extraction is the mechanical removal step itself, whatever the source.

Emergency Water Extraction vs Structural Drying

Extraction removes free water in hours; structural drying removes bound moisture from materials over days. You need both, in that order.

Emergency Water Extraction — frequently asked

Extraction calls take dispatch priority. Crews inside the metro core are targeted at 30 to 45 minutes; outlying addresses at 60. You get the technician's name and live ETA by text as soon as the truck is assigned.

Water Damage Restoration

This is the full-scope service that covers everything between the moment water enters the building and the moment the last piece of baseboard goes back on. It combines extraction, documented drying, antimicrobial treatment and reconstruction under one crew, one scope and one claim file. Whether a three-day dry-out or a three-week rebuild results is decided almost entirely in the first twenty-four hours.

Flood Cleanup

Flood water is a different problem from a burst pipe. It arrives from outside, it carries soil, fuel, fertiliser and sewage, and it is treated as Category 3 from the moment it crosses the threshold. That changes the entire scope: porous materials in the flood line come out rather than getting dried, and the building is disinfected before it is rebuilt.

Structural Drying

Structural drying is the science half of restoration: removing bound moisture from framing, subfloor, plaster and concrete after the free water is gone. It is not a matter of putting fans in a room — equipment counts are calculated from cubic volume, class of loss and material type, then adjusted daily against psychrometric readings until the building matches its own unaffected baseline.

Wet Carpet Drying

Carpet is usually salvageable; the pad underneath usually is not. Pad is a sponge that holds several times its weight in water and dries far too slowly to beat mold, so the standard approach is to save the carpet by floating and drying it in place while replacing the pad. Whether that works depends almost entirely on the water category and how many hours have passed.
